Jeremy Klein 4ffc2a7e7e fix: sleep from a WiFi activity instead of silent-rebooting (#2092)
Unify the two splash-skip signals (RTC silent-reboot flag, SD
seamless-sleep flag) into one BootResume enum driving a single switch.
Storage unchanged; behavior-preserving apart from the fix.

Holding power to sleep from a WiFi activity (Font Download, OPDS, web
server, Calibre, KOReader sync) rebooted to home instead of sleeping.
goToSleep() runs the outgoing activity's onExit(), and those activities
call silentRestart() to clear heap fragmentation, so the heap-defrag
reboot fired before deep sleep could start.

enterDeepSleep() now latches deepSleepInProgress before goToSleep();
silentRestart()/silentRestartToReader() no-op while it's set. Deep sleep
is a full chip reset on wake, so it already clears the fragmentation the
reboot existed for.

Julia c44555007b feat(settings): modify "Page as Sleep Screen" to "Quick Resume" options (#2089)
## Summary

**What is the goal of this PR?**

Adds a clearer Quick Resume sleep-screen flow. The previous “Page as
Sleep Screen” behavior is now exposed as a dedicated `Sleep Screen >
Quick Resume `option, with the timeout-only behavior controlled by a
renamed `Quick Resume on Timeout `setting.

**What changes are included?**

- Adds `Quick Resume` as a new `Sleep Screen` option.
- Renames the old `Page as Sleep Screen` setting to `Quick Resume on
Timeout`.
- Changes that setting’s choices from `Never / After Timeout / Always`
to `OFF / ON`.
- Makes `Quick Resume on Timeout = ON` equivalent to the old `After
Timeout` behavior.
- Makes `Sleep Screen > Quick Resume` equivalent to the old `Always`
behavior.
- Automatically forces `Quick Resume on Timeout` to `ON` when `Sleep
Screen` is set to `Quick Resume`.
- Renames internal setting references from `seamlessSleepScreen` to
`quickResumeSleepScreen`.
- Updates translations for the renamed setting label.

**Additional Context**

- This is mostly a settings/labeling restructure around existing
behavior, not a new rendering path.
- The runtime quick-resume behavior still uses the existing saved
framebuffer / last-screen sleep flow.

Jeremy Klein 3800179595 fix: wire through silent restart clear resume state with sdk (#2033)
## Summary

After a silent reboot, there was a small window where the esp32 would
listen for button presses but the full refresh would hold the event
loop. This gave a UX experience where the silent reboot had completed to
the home screen, a user taps select (at any time during the process),
and they find themselves unexpectedly in a book.

the submodule SHA changes included in.

New option: `Page as Sleep Screen` - `Never (default)`, `After Timeout`,
`Always`

When enabled, it seamlessly sleeps on timeout or power off, making a
fast refresh for the moon icon. When waking up, we still show the last
page, instead of the boot screen, making it fully seamless.

I tried different icons such as "refresh arrow" and others, but they
looked not as nice as 3 simple dots.

With this mode, the device turns off 4 seconds faster. And has 6 seconds
less delay when turning back on. Much more responsive.

Previously, even a 10-minute timeout sometimes wasn't enough, and I'd
worry about seeing the book cover. It's now easier to use a shorter
sleep timeout: if I get distracted during a reading session but don't
want to stop, the new screen is much more inviting to come back to.

Jeremy Klein 86a9510957 fix: stabilize deep sleep wake on USB power (#2060)
When the device went into deep sleep while plugged into USB, a
power-button press would occasionally not wake it. The display held its
last frame, the chip stayed in deep sleep, and recovery required an
unplug + reset + hold-power cycle. On battery the symptom never surfaced
because the power button physically re-energises the chip.

Two peripherals were holding power domains alive across the deep sleep
boundary and interfering with the configured GPIO wake on the power
button:

1. HWCDC. Once Serial is initialized, the USB Serial/JTAG peripheral
keeps its power domain configured even with TX timeout at zero and no
host draining. Tear it down with Serial.end() in
HalPowerManager::startDeepSleep, gated by ENABLE_SERIAL_LOG to match the
Serial.begin site. This hit me if I was charging off my computer.

2. WiFi. enterDeepSleep had no WiFi teardown, so sleeping from any
network-using activity left the modem domain alive. Call
WiFi.disconnect(true) + WiFi.mode(WIFI_OFF) when WiFi is active. Wake
from deep sleep is effectively a chip reset, so no WiFi state needs to
survive. While this doesn't cause higher power drain, it apparently was
causing issues where I'd occasionally have the chip hang on sleep
transition from a wifi activity.

Confirmed on device.

Jeremy Klein a525606d7f fix: USB serial logs now flow on cold+warm boot without jiggle (#2034)
The "logs only flow if you unplug and replug the USB cable at the right
moment" symptom traced to two interacting problems with the ESP32-C3 USB
Serial/JTAG controller (HWCDC):

1. Serial.begin was gated on gpio.isUsbConnected(). That check sampled
USB state at one specific microsecond during boot. If USB enumeration on
the host hadn't completed by that moment (common after a reset that
auto- reconnects a moment later), Serial was never initialized and
stayed dead until the next boot where the timing happened to win.

2. HWCDC writes block for up to the configured TX timeout (default 250
ms) when the host has the port open but isn't actively draining — a
state the macOS USB CDC stack enters intermittently after reconnect. The
firmware then appears to hang on logging until a USB unplug+replug
cycles the peripheral and flushes the TX FIFO.

Fix: move the Serial init to the very top of setup() with a 250 ms stall
before Serial.begin (lets the USB peripheral power-on and host
enumeration complete on cold boot), and call logSerial.setTxTimeoutMs(0)
so writes drop bytes harmlessly when the host is slow instead of
stalling the firmware. Both warm reboot and cold power-on now produce
logs immediately.

## Summary

Fix incorrect power button long-press detection during shutdown/wake
verification by introducing dedicated power button timing logic.

* Added getPowerButtonHeldTime() to HalGPIO as a wrapper over input
manager logic
* Replaced generic getHeldTime() usage with power-button-specific timing
in verifyPowerButtonWakeup()
* Ensures shutdown/wake decision is based only on actual power button
hold duration, not any-button timing
  * Minor header update for new API exposure in HalGPIO.h

This fixes a bug where holding another button while briefly pressing the
power button could incorrectly trigger shutdown behavior due to shared
timing state (getHeldTime()).

The change isolates power button timing to prevent cross-button
interference and makes shutdown logic reliable during multi-button
interactions.

No behavioral changes are expected outside of power-button handling
logic.

Jeremy Klein 7acc31bc34 fix: silent-reboot on wifi activity exit to clear heap fragmentation (#1908)
WiFi/LWIP/netif teardown scatters long-lived allocations across the
heap, leaving ~50KB of contiguous space unrecoverable without a reboot.

Reboot the SoC on exit from any wifi-using activity to guarantee a clean
heap. An RTC_NOINIT flag survives the reboot and tells setup() to skip
the boot splash and route the user back where they came from:
  - File transfer / Calibre / OPDS / Font download -> home
  - KOReader sync -> currently-open EPUB

Activities check WiFi.getMode() before rebooting, so backing out of the
network mode menu without joining doesn't trigger a cycle. KOSync also
esp_wifi_stop()s after the sync result so the radio is off while the
user reads it; full teardown happens at the reboot.


## Additional Context

The silent reboot skips the booting splash screen - it visibly looks
like a screen refresh. This does cause a disconnection/reconnection blip
for developers actively pulling logs over serial, but `pio device
monitor` and the like successfully reconnect and feed in the early boot
serial.

Zach Nelson 30b14f2ecf refactor: Removed SdCardFontGlobals.h (#1962)
## Summary

First of several changes to decouple and clean up SD card fonts
integration. This change eliminates SdCardFontGlobals.h:
- Simply declare the `extern SdCardFontSystem sdFontSystem` in
SdCardFontSystem.h.
- `ActivityManager::goToReader` should not care about loading SD card
fonts. Instead do the same work in `ReaderActivity::onEnter`, after the
previous activity has exited and after ReaderActivity has validated the
file path.

7993b2bb97 feat: add SD card font support with on-device download and web management
Add a complete SD card font subsystem that enables users to install and
use custom fonts beyond the three built-in families. This combines the
back-end firmware support (#1327) with the font configuration, build
pipeline, CI distribution, and user-facing management UI (#1392).

Core font system:
- Custom .cpfont binary format (v4) with multi-style support (regular,
  bold, italic, bold-italic) packed into a single file per size
- On-demand glyph loading from SD card with two-pass prewarm rendering
  to bulk-read glyphs per page, achieving near-flash performance for
  Latin text (~697ms vs ~681ms) and viable CJK rendering (~32% slower)
- Persistent advance cache for layout measurement without SD I/O
- Overflow ring buffer for glyph cache misses during rendering
- Memory-conscious design: only advance tables kept in RAM; glyph
  bitmaps, kern tables, and ligatures loaded on demand from SD

Font management:
- On-device WiFi download from GitHub Releases with manifest-based
  discovery, install/update detection, and progress UI
- Web interface font upload, listing, and deletion via /fonts page
- Manual SD card copy to /fonts/ or /.fonts/ directories
- Font selection integrated into Settings > Reader > Font Family

Build pipeline:
- Declarative YAML config (sd-fonts.yaml) as single source of truth
  for the 17-family font library (serif, sans, mono, accessibility)
- Python converter (fontconvert_sdcard.py) for TTF/OTF to .cpfont with
  FreeType rasterization, class-based kerning, and ligature extraction
- Parallel build orchestrator with variable font instance extraction
- CI workflow publishing versioned + stable releases to a dedicated
  crosspoint-fonts repository with auto-incrementing revision tags
- Centralized version constants (cpfont_version.py) shared across
  build tooling and CI, with firmware headers as manual sync points

Additional fixes:
- CJK characters no longer get hyphens inserted at line breaks
- Advance table eliminates 30+ second stalls during CJK section
  indexing for paragraphs with >512 unique codepoints

When Power+Down is released with a slight stagger (Down before Power),
the Power release event leaked through to the activity loop, triggering
short-press Power actions like clip selection. Add a
screenshotComboActive flag that suppresses all input processing until
Power is fully released after a screenshot combo.

Zach Nelson b25389b43e refactor: Move language setting into JSON settings (#1796)
## Summary

Another follow up to #1408. That PR revised the language.bin settings
file to version 2. After merging, it occurred to me that it would make
more sense to have the language inside the overall settings.json file,
easy for users to see and change directly.

This change adds migration from language.bin to settings.json. It only
migrates from the pre-#1408 v1 language.bin format, because v2 has only
been in for a couple of commits and I don't think we need long-term
maintenance code to handle it.

#1408 had a potential long-term maintenance issue for migration. It
assumed that the enum order of languages never changes, only grows. So,
e.g. "Portuguese (Portugal)" could never be added next to "Portuguese
(Brazil)", only appended. This change includes a hardcoded frozen
ordering of the language indices as they existed at 2f969a9, and
migrates to storing a language code string in the settings.json instead
for future reordering flexibility.

Similar to the settings.bin to settings.json migration, which renames
settings.bin to settings.bin.bak, this change renames language.bin to
language.bin.bak after adding the language setting to settings.json.

Arthur TazhitdinovandCopilot 1cf2239742 feat: Support for multiple OPDS servers (#1209)
## Summary

* Add support for configuring and using multiple OPDS servers, replacing
the previous single-server limitation. Closes
https://github.com/crosspoint-reader/crosspoint-reader/issues/1178
* New OpdsServerStore singleton (modeled after WifiCredentialStore) that
persists up to 8 OPDS servers to /.crosspoint/opds.json with MAC-based
password obfuscation.
* One-time migration from legacy single-server fields in
CrossPointSettings to the new store on first boot.
* New OpdsServerListActivity for the device UI — works in two modes: a
settings list (add/edit/delete servers) and a picker (select which
server to browse). When only one server is configured, the picker is
skipped automatically.
* Renamed CalibreSettingsActivity → OpdsSettingsActivity for clarity. It
now edits individual OpdsServer entries (name, URL, username, password,
delete).
* OpdsBookBrowserActivity now receives an OpdsServer at construction and
uses its credentials for all fetches/downloads, and shows the server
name in the header.
* HttpDownloader::fetchUrl and downloadToFile accept optional per-call
username/password parameters instead of reading from global settings.
* REST API endpoints on CrossPointWebServer: GET /api/opds, POST
/api/opds, POST /api/opds/delete — passwords are never exposed over the
API (only a hasPassword flag), and omitting the password field on update
preserves the existing one.
* Web UI (SettingsPage.html) with dynamic OPDS server management cards —
add, edit, save, and delete servers from the browser.

* The OpdsServerStore JSON format and obfuscation scheme are identical
to WifiCredentialStore, so the same JsonSettingsIO infrastructure
handles both.
* The web API uses POST /api/opds/delete instead of DELETE /api/opds
because the ESP32 WebServer doesn't support the DELETE method with a
request body.
* Existing single-server configurations are migrated automatically — no
user action required. After migration the legacy CrossPointSettings
fields are cleared so it only runs once.
* The HttpDownloader changes are backward-compatible: the credential
parameters default to empty strings, so existing callers are unaffected.

Justin Mitchell 9b3885135f feat: Initial support for the x3 (#875)
## Summary

Adds Xteink X3 hardware support to CrossPoint Reader. The X3 uses the
same SSD1677 e-ink controller as the X4 but with a different panel
(792x528 vs 800x480), different button layout, and an I2C fuel gauge
(BQ27220) instead of ADC-based battery reading.

All X3-specific behavior is gated by runtime device detection — X4
behavior is unchanged.

Depends on community-sdk X3 support: open-x4-epaper/community-sdk#19
(merged).

## Changes

### HAL Layer

**HalGPIO** (`lib/hal/HalGPIO.cpp/.h`)
- I2C-based device fingerprinting at boot: probes for BQ27220 fuel
gauge, DS3231 RTC, and QMI8658 IMU to distinguish X3 from X4
- Detection result cached in NVS for fast subsequent boots
- Exposes `deviceIsX3()` / `deviceIsX4()` helpers used throughout the
codebase
- X3 button mapping (7 GPIOs vs X4's layout)

- Cover image prescale target uses runtime display dimensions from HAL
instead of hardcoded 800x480

Adrian Wilkins-Caruana f1e9dc7f30 perf: font-compression improvements (#1056)
## Purpose

This PR includes some preparatory changes that are needed for an
upcoming performant CJK font feature. The changes have no impact on
render time and heap allocation for latin text. **Despite this, I think
these changes stand on their own as a better font
compression/decompression implementation.**

## Summary

- Font decompressor rewrite: Replaced the 4-slot LRU group cache with a
two-tier system — a page buffer (glyphs prewarmed before rendering
begins) and a hot-group fallback (last decompressed group retained for
non-prewarmed
  glyphs). 
- Byte-aligned compressed bitmap format: Glyph bitmaps within compressed
groups are now stored row-padded rather than tightly packed before
DEFLATE compression, improving compression ratios by making identical
pixel rows produce
identical byte patterns. Glyphs are compacted back to packed format on
demand at render time. Reduces flash size by 155 KB.
- Page prewarm system: Added `Page::collectText` and
`Page::getDominantStyle` to extract per-style glyph requirements before
rendering, and `GfxRenderer::prewarmFontCache` to pre-decompress only
the groups needed for the dominant style
   — eliminating mid-render decompression for the common case.
- UTF-8 robustness fixes: `utf8NextCodepoint` now validates continuation
bytes and returns a replacement glyph on malformed input;
`ChapterHtmlSlimParser` correctly preserves incomplete multi-byte
sequences across word-buffer flush
  boundaries rather than splitting them.

## Summary

This PR introduces `ActivityManager`, which mirrors the same concept of
Activity in Android, where an activity represents a single screen of the
UI. The manager is responsible for launching activities, and ensuring
that only one activity is active at a time.

Main differences from Android's ActivityManager:
- No concept of Bundle or Intent extras
- No onPause/onResume, since we don't have a concept of background
activities
- onActivityResult is implemented via a callback instead of a separate
method, for simplicity

## Key changes

- Single `renderTask` shared across all activities
- No more sub-activity, we manage them using a stack; Results can be
passed via `startActivityForResult` and `setResult`
- Activity can call `finish()` to destroy themself, but the actual
deletion will be handled by `ActivityManager` to avoid `delete this`
pattern

As a bonus: the manager will automatically call `requestUpdate()` when
returning from another activity

## Example usage

Xuan-Son Nguyen 7761ced0ed fix: acquire power lock before sleeping (#1125)
## Summary

Power lock is automatically acquired on `render()`. However, instead of
using `render()`, sleep activity render everything right inside

Uri Tauber 63b2643534 fix: Fix dangling pointer (#1010)
## Summary

* **What is the goal of this PR?** Small fix for bug I found.

## Additional Context


1. `RecentBooksActivity::loop()` calls
`onSelectBook(recentBooks[selectorIndex].path)` - passing a
**reference** to the path
  2. `onSelectBook` is `onGoToReader` which first calls `exitActivity()`
3. `exitActivity()` triggers `RecentBooksActivity::onExit()` which call
`recentBooks.clear()`
4. The string reference `initialEpubPath` is now a **dangling
reference** - the underlying string has been destroyed
5. When the reference is then used in `new ReaderActivity(...)`, it
reads garbage memory
6. The same issue occurs in `HomeActivity` at line 200 with the same
pattern

The fix is to make a copy of the string in `onGoToReader` before calling
`exitActivity()`, so the path data persists even after the activity
clears its data structures.

Vincent Politzer cabbfcfd7e fix: Use HalPowerManager for battery percentage (#1005)
## Summary

The introduction of `HalGPIO` moved the `BatteryMonitor battery` object
into the member function `HalGPIO::getBatteryPercentage()`.

Then, with the introduction of `HalPowerManager`, this function was
moved to `HalPowerManager::getBatteryPercentage()`.

However, the original `BatteryMonitor battery` object is still utilized
by themes for displaying the battery percentage.

This PR replaces these deprecated uses of `BatteryMonitor battery` with
the new `HalPowerManager::getBatteryPercentage()` function.

Compress reader font bitmaps to reduce flash usage by 30.7%.

- New `EpdFontGroup` struct and extended `EpdFontData` with
`groups`/`groupCount` fields
- `--compress` flag in `fontconvert.py`: groups glyphs (ASCII base group
+ groups of 8) and compresses each with raw DEFLATE
- `FontDecompressor` class with 4-slot LRU cache for on-demand
decompression during rendering
- `GfxRenderer` transparently routes bitmap access through
`getGlyphBitmap()` (compressed or direct flash)
- Uses `uzlib` for decompression with minimal heap overhead.
- 48 reader fonts (Bookerly, NotoSans 12-18pt, OpenDyslexic) regenerated
with compression; 5 UI fonts unchanged
- Round-trip verification script (`verify_compression.py`) runs as part
of font generation

Xuan-Son Nguyen 6ec5fc5603 feat: lower CPU freq on idle, add HalPowerManager (#852)
## Summary

Continue my experiment from
https://github.com/crosspoint-reader/crosspoint-reader/pull/801

This PR add the ability to lower the CPU frequency on extended idle
period (currently set to 3 seconds). By default, the esp32c3 CPU is set
to 160MHz, and now on idle, we can reduce it to just 10MHz.

Note that while this functionality is already provided by [esp power
management](https://docs.espressif.com/projects/esp-idf/en/v4.3/esp32c3/api-reference/system/power_management.html),
the current Arduino build lacks of this, and enabling it is just too
complicated (not worth the effort compared to this PR)

## Testing

Pre-condition for each test case: the battery is charged to 100%, and is
left plugged in after fully charged for an extra 1 hour.

The table below shows how much battery is **used** for a given duration:

(1) I decided not to test this case because it may not make sense. The
problem is that CPU frequency vs power consumption do not follow a
linear relationship, see
[this](https://www.arrow.com/en/research-and-events/articles/esp32-power-consumption-can-be-reduced-with-sleep-modes)
as an example. So, tight loop (10ms) + lower CPU freq significantly
impact battery life, because the active CPU time is now much higher
compared to the wall time.

**So in conclusion, this PR improves ~150% to ~200% battery use time per
charge.**

The projected battery life is now: ~36-48 hrs of reading time (normal
reading, no wifi)

This implementation (building on concepts from #505) prioritizes
performance and memory efficiency.

The core approach is to store all localized strings for each language in
dedicated arrays and access them via enums. This provides O(1) access
with zero runtime overhead, and avoids the heap allocations, hashing,
and collision handling required by `std::map` or `std::unordered_map`.

The main trade-off is that enums and string arrays must remain perfectly
synchronized—any mismatch would result in incorrect strings being
displayed in the UI.

To eliminate this risk, I added a Python script that automatically
generates `I18nStrings.h/.cpp` and `I18nKeys.h` from a CSV file, which
will serve as the single source of truth for all translations. The full
design and workflow are documented in `docs/i18n.md`.

CSV
- [x] Populate translations.csv with initial translations.

Currently available translations: English, Español, Français, Deutsch,
Čeština, Português (Brasil), Русский, Svenska.

42.194.356 bytes, the same code via slim will create 42.024.048 bytes -
170.308 bytes less
* Firmware.bin : 6.469.984 bytes for default, 6.418.672 bytes for slim -
51.312 bytes less

* Add a small loop in main to be able to receive external commands,
currently being sent via the debugging_monitor
* Implemented command: cmd:SCREENSHOT sends the currently displayed
screen to the monitor, which will then store it to screenshot.bmp

I was getting annoyed with taking tilted/unsharp photos of the device
screen, so I added the ability to press Enter during the monitor
execution and type SCREENSHOT to send a command. Could be extended in
the future

Xuan-Son Nguyen 0991782fb4 feat: more power saving on idle (#801)
## Summary

This PR extends the delay in main loop from 10ms to 50ms after the
device is idle for a while. This translates to extended battery life in
a longer period (see testing section above), while not hurting too much
the user experience.

With the help from [this
patch](https://github.com/ngxson/crosspoint-reader/tree/xsn/measure_cpu_usage),
I was able to measure the CPU usage on idle:

While this is a x3.8 reduce in CPU usage, it doesn't translate to the
same amount of battery life extension in real life. The reasons are:
1. The CPU is not shut down completely
2. freeRTOS tick is still running (however, I planned to experiment with
tickless functionality)
3. Current leakage to other components, for example: voltage dividers,
eink screen, SD card, etc

A note on
[light-sleep](https://docs.espressif.com/projects/esp-idf/en/stable/esp32c3/api-reference/system/sleep_modes.html)
functionality: it is not possible in our use case because:
- Light-sleep for 50ms introduce too much overhead on wake up, it has
negative effect on battery life
- Light-sleep for longer period doesn't work because the ADC GPIO
buttons cannot be used as wake up source

## Testing (duration = 6 hrs)

To test this, I patched the `CrossPointSettings::getSleepTimeoutMs()` to
always returns a timeout of 6 hrs. This allow me to leave the device
idle for 6 hrs straight.

- On master branch, 6 hrs costs 26% battery life (100% --> 74%), meaning
battery life is ~23 hrs
- With this PR, 6 hrs costs 20% battery life (100% --> 80%), meaning
battery life is ~30 hrs

So in theory, this extends the battery by about 7 hrs. Even with some
error margin added, I think 3 hrs increase is possible with a normal
usage setup (i.e. only read ebooks, no wifi)

Would appreciate if someone can test this with an oscilloscope.

Istiak TridipandDave Allie 64d161e88b feat: unify navigation handling with system-wide continuous navigation (#600)
This PR unifies navigation handling & adds system-wide support for
continuous navigation.

## Summary
Holding down a navigation button now continuously advances through items
until the button is released. This removes the need for repeated
press-and-release actions and makes navigation faster and smoother,
especially in long menus or documents.

When page-based navigation is available, it will navigate through pages.
If not, it will progress through menu items or similar list-based UI
elements.

Additionally, this PR fixes inconsistencies in wrap-around behavior and
navigation index calculations.

This PR touches quite a lot of files, but most of them are just name

My plan is to firstly add this small shim layer, which sounds useless at
first, but then I'll implement an emulated driver which can be helpful
for testing and for development.

Currently, on my fork, I'm using a FS driver that allow "mounting" a
local directory from my computer to the device, much like the `-v` mount
option on docker. This allows me to quickly reset `.crosspoint`
directory if anything goes wrong. I plan to upstream this feature when
this PR get merged.

## Details

This PR based on the fact that function calls are costly if the function
is small enough. For example, this simple call:

```

Generated assembly code:

This adds ~10 instructions just to prepare the registers prior to the
function call, plus some more instructions for the function's
epilogue/prologue. Inlining it removing all of these:

Of course, this optimization is not magic. It's only beneficial under 3
conditions:
- The function is small, not in size, but in terms of effective
instructions. For example, the `rotateCoordinates` is simply a jump
table, where each branch is just 3-4 inst
- The function has multiple input arguments, which requires some move to
put it onto the correct place
- The function is called very frequently (i.e. critical path)

When set to ON, we will disable the displays analog supply voltage after
every update and turn it back on before the next update.

## Additional Context

* Until now, I was only able to do limited testing because of limited
sunlight at my location, but the fix seems to be working. I'll also
attach a pre-built binary based on 0.16.0 (current master) with the fix
applied to the linked ticket, as building this fix is a bit annoying
because the submodule open-x4-sdk also needs an update.
* [PR in
open-x4-sdk](https://github.com/open-x4-epaper/community-sdk/pull/15)
needs to be merged first, we also need to add another commit to this
here PR, updating this dependency.
* I decided to hide this behind a default-OFF option. While I'm not
really concerned that this fix might potentially damage the display,
someone more knowledgeable on E-Ink technology could maybe have a look
at this.
* There's a binary attached in the linked issue, if someone has the
required sunlight to test this in-depth.

- Only the Home, Library and main Settings screens have been implemented
so far, this will be extended to the transfer screens and chapter
selection screen later on, but we need to get the ball rolling somehow
:)
- Loading extra covers on the home screen in the Lyra theme takes a
little more time (about 2 seconds), I added a loading bar popup (reusing
the Indexing progress bar from the reader view, factored into a neat UI
component) but the popup adds ~400ms to the loading time.
- ~~Home screen thumbnails will need to be generated separately for each
theme, because they are displayed in different sizes. Because we're
using dithering, displaying a thumb with the wrong size causes the
picture to look janky or dark as it does on the screenshots above. No
worries this will be fixed in a future PR.~~ Thumbs are now generated
with a size parameter
- UI Icons will need to be implemented in a future PR.

Based on my observation, it seems like the problem was that
`inputManager.isPressed(InputManager::BTN_POWER)` takes a bit of time
after waking up to report the correct value. I haven't tested this
behavior with a standalone ESP32C3, but if you know more about this,
feel free to comment.

However, if we just want short press, I think it's enough to check for
wake up source. If we plan to allow multiple buttons to wake up in the
future, may consider using ext1 / `esp_sleep_get_ext1_wakeup_status()`
to allow identify which pin triggered wake up.

Note that I'm not particularly experienced in esp32 developments, just
happen to have prior knowledge hacking esphome.
